A beautiful certified French violin made by Jean Baptiste Collin-Mezin(père, father) made circa 1893..
The rich varnish is attractively textured ; a very good workmanship as you may expect from this famous violin maker.
A very nice example of this maker's work  : a beautiful back, elegant scroll, and ribs.
The sound is big, well projected, mature and warm in character.
This Collin-Mezin violin responds very easily and has a well balanced tone in all the registers of the instrument. 
This beautiful instrument is in a good condition, and comes with a reliable certificate of authenticity.

Charles Jean Baptiste Collin-Mezin (1841–1923) was a distinguished French maker of violins, violas, cellos, basses and bows. 

He was an Officier de l'Académie des Beaux-Arts and won gold and silver medals at the Paris Exhibitions in 1878, 1889, and 1900. (from Wikipedia).

COLLIN-MEZIN, Charles (II) Born 1870 Amboise, died 1934, Mirecourt France. Son and assistant of Charles Jean-Baptiste Collin, above. 

Travelled widely and stayed in America before returning to Mirecourt 1900.
