A rare French-Italian violin by Philippe Mougel

A Rare Italian French Violin by Joseph Philipe Mougel, Turin first half of the nineteenth century.

Mougel is mentioned by Christoph Landon as having worked for J. F. Pressenda in his interesting
article Joint Venture, published in The Strad
He is knwon for his fine and accurate work.
This lovely violin wears its original label inside.,and is made during his first period when he worked in Mirecourt..
A very fine violin with a beautiful bronish varnish, in shades of brown/reddish/ colours, on a yellow ground.

This Joseph Philipe mougel violin is made of very beautiful wood - a very nice flamed one-piece back, made of, nicely figured maple,
flamed ribs and a good carved round scroll with character.
The violin generates a strong and warm tone, with plenty of personality, it is a very fine violin for orchestral work or ensemble playing.
The violin comes with a new set of strings and a new chinrest, tailpiece.
The violin comes with a reliable certificate (J. Rampal from Paris- included).

Sound sample available on request.
