This is a beautiful begin 19th. century French violin made by François Jacques Barbé (père - father)- made ca 1820. BARBÉ,
François Jaques Born 1797 Mirecourt France.
Worked in Dijon and Avallon, c.1810-1850. 
Lovely antique French instrument - branded in the back - typical flat arched instrument.
The work is quite nice, a beautiful original amber/brownish varnish.
A beautiful one piece maple back with a stunning small flame pattern, similar ribs and stunning
headstock and neck. condition report : This great violin has a few little repairs,
no sound post cracks, Some varnish wear because of age & usage,
The violin produces a strong, warm and open tone with a lot of personallity and a strong projection.
LOB: ca 361 mm (4/4).
