A fine old certified 7/8 cello by Louis Moitessier ca. 1800.
A beautifull and very old 7/8 ladies cello made by Louis Moitessier around 1800.
This beautiful cello is stamped inside Moitessier a Paris - , and also below the button, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.(J. Rampal in Paris).
This is a lovely old cello, and this kind skind of good ladie cello's are quite hard to find. It has a few repairs, from the past,
but it's ready to play, with new strings, tail piece, a used, but still good bridge, and a new endpinn.
It sounds quite good for such an old lafy : the basses are round and warm, the A-string is not sharp but full, and the tone is quite strong.
A warm sounding cello with a lot of personality.
This cello has a lovely look with its old brown patina.
A nice one-piece maple back, fine ribs, neck, and a well made round and elegant scroll in old French style.
A sound sample is available on request.
